Over 30 years experience in dairy technical, quality assurance and production of yoghurt, cream, powdered & concentrated milks and cheese.
My working life began with St. Ivel as a Laboratory Technician, during which time I studied Dairy Science and Microbiology at Cheshire College of Agriculture.
Several years experience in manufacturing units prior to taking up the position of Quality Controller at St. Ivel, Melksham.
Eighteen years with Anchor Foods as Quality Assurance Manager and eight years as Senior Product Manager for cheese at Sainsbury's head office.

Extensive experience of working with a large number of UK & overseas cheese manufacturers and have advised / worked with them to improve or maximise quality and efficiency.

Regular invitation to judge cheese at major shows including: Nantwich, British Cheese Awards, Frome, Royal Welsh, IFE & Great Yorkshire Shows.
Key achievements with Sainsbury’s
Significantly raised the standards of Sainsbury’s own label cheese.
High level of impact on improving standards of British cheese manufacturers’ products.
Introduced objective innovative methodology for the grading & selection of cheese.
High success rate when benchmarking Sainsbury’s cheese against competitors products.
Led major UK cheese suppliers in developing a Sainsbury’s cheese best practice guide
and its implementation.
Key Achievements with Anchor Foods
Documentation and implementation of company wide ISO9002 specifications manual.
Documentation of factory ISO9002 quality related work instructions and procedures.
Development and implementation of new cheese grading system in the UK and New Zealand.
Controlled Anchor Cheddar grading and end use to eventually develop as UK brand leader.
Setting up, staffing, managing product testing laboratories and implementing product testing
procedures.Implementation of factory statistical average weight control systems.
Developed and implemented internal auditing programme, trained and led a team
of 19 auditors.
